Expanding the opening flashback/dream meant superfluous moments had to go. This scene was one of them and it’s a real tragedy. Neither Elly nor Solomon have ever behaved this cartoonishly since and removing the scene shuts the door on a certain kind of light-heartedness that I’m sorry to see go.
